Where else but in our colleges and universities can you find the best and brightest minds of the next generation in the investment profession?
Unique opportunity for students worldwide
The challenge gathers students, investment industry professionals, publicly traded companies, and corporate sponsors together locally, regionally, and globally for a real world competition.
Not just an exercise
In order to promote best practices in equity research and company analysis, students research, analyze, and report on a company as if they are practicing analysts. The students are given a publicly traded company to analyze, and to prepare a research report and presentation on their findings. The students will be supported by experienced CFA charterholders which will act as mentors during the preparation of the report and presentation.
How the Challenge works
The Swiss CFA society hosts in conjunction with the participating universities the local competition of the Global Investment Research Challenge. The universities assemble teams of 3-5 business and finance students who work directly with a company in researching and preparing a company analysis.
The company will present to students and mentors during the kick-off in Zurich on October 20th and Neuchâtel on October 22. See important dates.
The team’s reports and final presentations are evaluated by a high-profile panel of heads of research, portfolio managers, and chief investment officers from Switzerland’s leading financial firms. The teams will present just prior to the award ceremony on February 9. The winning teams will receive total price money of CHF 3’000.- as well as seats to the prestigious annual SCFAS dinner.
The Swiss champions advance to the EMEA regional competition in Madrid on March 3 - 4, 2011 and hopefully to the global final in Omaha, Nebraska, USA on April 8 – 9, 2011.
