Reading Circle
„Books. Have you ever read a book on finance and wished you had someone you could discuss the content with? A book where perhaps you felt that you might be missing some of the concepts and ideas exposed?
Why not join a reading circle on financial books? On a bi-weekly basis, people reading the same book get together online and discuss what they are reading. The intention is to discuss the concepts of books beyond the levels that one usually reaches when reading on a “casual” basis.
First book suggested is “Security Analysis” by Benjamin Graham – the 1940 Edition.

Codes, Standards and Guidelines
The CFA Institute Standards of Practice Council (SPC) is seeking public comment on proposed changes to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct (Code and Standards) and the associated guidance to the Code and Standards in the Standards of Practice Handbook (Handbook).
Proposed revisions include:
- Clarification change to Standard III (A) Duties to Clients — Loyalty, Prudence, and Care
- New examples and guidance that address recent market events and professional practice during a down market
- Improved readability of the Handbook
You will find more details on the proposed changes and the complete draft of the new edition please at the following link: http://www.cfainstitute.org/centre/codes/ethics/periodic_review.html
After receiving and considering public comment, the SPC will further revise the Code and Standards and guidance to the Handbook as appropriate and submit any changes to the Code and Standards to the CFA Institute Board of Governors for approval. CFA Institute anticipates the publication of the 10th edition of the Standards of Practice Handbook in the second half of 2010.
Ulrike Kaiser-Boeing, CFA – Board Member of SCFAS and Member of SPC encourages you to send in your comments through November 19th, 2009.
